Reaching

What I know I need
I have not yet met

except in passing
like wind

through trees
— and perhaps

this is the only
glimpse. But it is not

enough to go
where I must get.

Power and strength,
wisdom, faith —

to open
as a conduit

for the emerging
life that splits

the seed, in service
to the force it contains.

What will breach
the dam, so you

can resume
your course through me?

Thousands of years
of our species’

resistance, on the cusp
of breaking free?

In the silence
of surrender,

I return to the center
of the stream

to reunite, to build
back the bridge

fastened by just
a cable. Will you

call louder, so
I might catch the line?

Or can I listen
any gentler?
